NG claim my late OH is responsible for a pipeline on land I know nothing of, 10miles away. Ive pressed NG for proof of ownership but nowt from them. Last year I told them to visit the site & record who owns & is working the site, thinking that would reveal some info.

Today, more warnings from NG about digging up their pipeline on the same site. Should I ignore it or what ?

Is there somewhere that you can check who owns the land?
Just tell them your OH has passed away ( send a copy of the death certificate if necessary)and you do not own the land or know who does own it.
