My comment at 2247 was only to point out that the proximate cause of the priest's death is only of importance to a pathologist. The thing of importance to us is that he was slain by (dare I say it?) fanatical muslums.

Thanks for clarifying that. My contribution to it was only going to be something along the lines of the fact that, nowadays, what was once only of local interest is now, if sufficiently weird or sickening, of interest worldwide. Heinous killings may have been happening, at a low ratevper country, for generations. Suddenly we are aware of all of them at once and it has the outward appearance of an outbreak… traceable back to a specific point in time or "causative event". What might seem to be empirical evidence gathering is, in fact, just a bad case of confirmation bias.

Yes but look at what he was responding to. To me, Douglas' comment seems to be a reference to (possibly mocking) events in DD's personal life. Nothing to do with the OP and/or calculated to undermine onlookers' opinion of the poster, rather than address the topic. That is where forum rules come into play.
