It's probably too late now but could someone have bought the chance of a say in the Tory leadership vote by paying a few quid?

How long ago ?
I saw the title in recent posts and thought, "I can afford a half dozen at that price". But then changed my mind as I didn't think that they'd be good at hard labour.

Was it ever possible? Or would one have needed to roll up a trouser leg, bare a breast, and hang a noose around ones neck, in order to establish ones eligibility?

Is it too fanciful to imagine a time when trouble makers from the right influenced the result of Labour leadership polls while concerned, caring, Lefties tried to place a more humane leader at the head of the Conservative party?
Having not checked the details I was asking because surely any responsible party should have a probation type period when voting rights aren't available ?

Party positions change all the time. I can even recall times when the Labour government was left wing. Now-a-days the public haven't had that option for ages. Leaders mirror the party position.

I believe you have to be a member for 3 Months before you get a Party Vote.
Turns out they took the membership voting opportunity away from them anyway. Just needed the outsider to say something controversial, say not to report it, and appear irate when, as anticipated, they do. Then claim that they are too damaged to continue, so they can back out without loss of face.
