Teen smow decides he wants his bedroom redecorated (it does need it) and insisted he wanted to paint it himself . Despite serious reservations as I know how messy and accident prone he is I finally relented as he said " I am almost 17 you know - I'm sure I can paint one room!). Armed with paint, dust sheets, and full instructions on how to do edges first with brush then use roller for main walls etc I've reluctantly left him to it an hour or so ago. I've just taken a peek in his room - OMG the mess!! He's got blue paint on his carpet , he has more paint on his legs than the walls, he has blue paint all over his skirting board which is(was!!) pine, it's on the White ceiling!! The whole room is in a terrible state!

well, it's his room, let him live in it. Telling offspring their room looks like a bombsite has little effect, in my experience. Maybe he'll learn something.
Ho ho! Just say - well you wanted to do it, now live with it!!!!
Lol...he'll have to live with it.

I don't think I'd allow my 17 year old to decorate his room. He's a great worker but after seeing the state of him after staining the garden fence....
Perhaps he'll move out shortly ?? :) :)
when I was 16, we had moved house. Asked if I could decorate my bedroom, the gloss on the skirting went well, wallpaper matched and stayed up, but the built-in wardrobe was louvre doors and guess who painted the doors before she took her clothes out ?
lovely pink flecks on most of my clothes, wonderful :-D
alba, that's wonderful! Although probably not at the time xx

Cannot believe how bad it is. Is it too early for a stiff drink??
My youngest daughter decorated her room at about that age, luckily we lifted the carpet (had a new oddment to replace it) so she had more or less an empty room to work in.

What I didn't know was she had chosen the darkest midnight blue and did all four walls and the ceiling then stencilled on dark gold moons and stars.

It was like walking into a fortune tellers tent!
Smow - most pubs open at 12 so no, it's not too early :-)
2 stiff drinks in one glass smow, saves time :-)

oh mamya, blue is so much better than black, both young albas have one wall painted that colour (black that is)
puts a new twist on shabby chic x
There's only one reply when teenagers have a bright idea. "No".

He's got so much on himself he looks like a smurf!!
3 stiff drinks in one glass then Smow - and stop laughing and crying at the same time. Just do it where he can't hear you :-D
Maybe that was the interior design he opted for.
Our Weatherspoons opens at 8am 7 days a week and the bar is open as soon as the doors are open!
