Junk Folder Has Moved!
I use Outlook to access my hotmail email account.
I have a lot of folders on the left side of the screen that I created to file emails that I need to keep.
However I don't know if I have hit a button incorrectly but for some reason my original files ie Inbox, Draft, Sent, Deleted, Junk all moved to the bottom of this list which was inconvenient because I had to scroll down the screen to access these most often used files.
I found a button that said "Show all folders A-Z" and when I clicked it it moved most of them to the top of the list, but the Junk file is still stuck alphabetically halfway down the list.
How do I move it back up to where the other general folders are?

One of the worst things Microsoft has ever done (and there have been many!) was to use the same name ('Outlook') for two entirely different things.
When you say that you 'use Outlook' you could mean that you're using the email client which most businesses use(i.e. a special program, entirely separate to your web browser, just used to send and receive emails) or you could mean that you're using Microsoft's web-based email system (Outlook.com) through your web browser (Internet Explorer, Edge, Firefox, Chrome or whatever). So some guesswork is required here in order to advise you!
However your reference to Hotmail (which was the precursor of Outlook.com) strongly suggests that you're accessing your mail via the Outlook.com website, so Alix Xedjhidee M's reply here should be the one you need:

I was quite happy with my original email address, then it had to go through something else and then outlook.
It wasn't broken so why on earth try to fix it.

If I right click on any of the folders it doesn't give me the option of moving it up or down. It just says Move folder (along with other options such as Rename, Copy and Delete).
That said however when I right click on the Junk folder the option to move it is shaded out so I can't do that either.

If you right click on the folder (Junk Folder) you want to move you will get the option to "Move Folder", click on Move Folder. A window should then pop up with the folder you want to move highlighted. Select the folder you want to move it into and click OK. The folder should then appear in the folder you selected. If you select to put it in Personal Folders which is at the top it should go in alphabetical order.
Arghhh - I'm making a proper mess of this.
I tried moving the other folders downwards (by clicking and dragging because I can't find the 'move up' option) but they have gone into the neighbouring folders and are now like a sub-folder. I can't work out how to separate them out again but if someone can tell me how to do that I think I will have to call it a day with the Junk folder unfortunately.

I see your problem, I have just right clicked on my Junk Folder and as you say it's greyed out and you can't select it.
To put your list of folders in the right order follow the instructions I gave earlier. Right click on the sub folder you want to move and select "Move Folder". Then in the box that appears in the middle of the screen select "Personal Folders" then click OK. The folder that was a sub folder should now appear in your folder list in alphabetical order.
If you do that first of all to the sub folders and then to all your other folders that are out of order you should end up with them in alphabetical order with the Junk Folder in the middle of it and back where you started.

I have restored the subfolders into their original place in the list. It didn't give me a "Personal Folders" option, but it worked when I dropped them on top of where my email address is at the top of the list.
Looks like getting the Junk folder back to where it was at the top of the list will have to remain a mystery unfortunately!

I had the same problem. To fix it I clicked "Try the beta" switch (top right corner) - then disable it again. Voilà - Junk folder is back under Inbox.
What I noticed - it had different positions in different browsers or computers, so it's not really an "Outlook" setting - it's more probably somewhere in browser cache or cookies, so if above fix doesn't work - try cleaning browse cacke, etc.
