Big Toe Injury

Over a week ago I dropped a heavy object on my big toe, the edge hit the bade of the toe and I experienced bruising and swelling instantly. The pain was very similar to fracture pain and at the time I thought I had.

Following day or so it was hard to walk on but decided to see how it panned out.

Swelling has gone down, bruising is fading but the pain is the same. Not so bad to walk on now but to touch or move my big toe the pain is the same.

Do you think it warrants an X-Ray?

Thanks

You won't get one for a toe injury. They'll just suggest strapping it.
Depends.
If the pain is not too bad and there is minimal deformity and the skin is not broken.......then I would not bother to go for an X-Ray and would use Ibuprofen for the pain.

However if there is a deformed toe OR there is a break in the skin then do go for an X-Ray.

If broken it will probably just be strapped, but if there is marked dislocation and you have arthritis elsewhere, then more aggressive treatment "might " be needed.

In your "shoes" ;-).....I would just take the Ibuprofen.

Cheers Sqad, had many a broken toe but usually the smaller ones and have always been X-Rayd but will just hold off with this one. Blooming hurts though :)
I had a toe injury back in May and mine still hurts. I immobilised it and still do which has really helped which is why I`m sure it was broken. I spoke to the doctor on the phone the other day about something else and I told him about my toe. He said if it still hurts after 8 weeks to go and see him.
