She now says, despite having said the opposite earlier, that she wants to remain with the people who have prevented her from deporting so many terrorists.
Wasn't removal from their jurisdiction, part of the reason for many voting for Brexit?

hezza put it less clearly when he said that a politician had advocated a course of action without any idea of policies to achieve them
Very disappointing.

PP: The Convention of Human Rights entitles us to the freedom to exercise our right to have a family life, even if 'family life' comprises of a cat and a budgie, we are all, without discrimination, entitled to remain in the UK, no matter from whence we came, or what we have done.
Makes yer feel proud to be a member of the Convention.
Mrs May clearly understands why people in this country are disgruntled with the ECHR. She’s disgruntled with the ECHR. Nevertheless she feels that, because there is “not parliamentary will for the move”, there is nothing she can do to remedy it, so once again the parliamentarians ignore the concerns of the people. RIP common sense. This country saw the last of it last week.
She's not in charge. Yet.
Maybe everyone needs to write to their MP. Why not start a petition or something ?
If May caves in she can kiss hoodbye to re election that is of course if she wins.

She would alsoho fown in history as the biggest traitor in history.
In that case, we end up with Gove. No exactly charismatic (as he admits) but I think he is committed to freedom and our own laws being supreme. Shame he trails clouds of hatred over his educational reforms, but my leftie friends would never vote Tory no matter who was in charge - so I suppose it doesn't really matter.

I had (highly dubious) hopes of May - didn't really trust her. Gove it is, then, for me. I like the look of Crabb - but he supported 'remain' and I think it has to be a 'Leaver'.
I would like Gove to promise to resign as PM before the next election if chosen to lead the Tory party. I believe he should be allowed to trigger A50 and oversee our exit from Eutopia.

There is no point in promising what you can't deliver. Unless May has the 100% backing of Tory MPs she would be on a loser. It is not May whom you should be attacking but the handful of namby-pamby lefty Tory MPs who will hold her to ransom.
Jackdaw, it's not solely a handful of Tory politicians who are namby-pamby - practically the whole lot of them who sit in parliament are namby-pamby. I wonder who among them really has the best interests of this country at heart, but I think Mr Gove comes closest.
You may be right. My fear about Gove is that he will not appeal to the electorate after his charisma bypass operation.
Jackdaw, from a charismatic point of view he won't appeal to the electorate - charisma is not his forte - but if the majority of the electorate have any hope at all of seeing their wishes fulfilled, he's the only one (apart from Mr Farage) who is willing to stand up and be counted.

Is stabbing someone in the back to prevent them from orchestrating a perceived disaster such a bad thing? - history is full of such actions.
I'm beginning to think that Gove might be the best choice for the country, -
I'll sleep on it.
As Nigel Farage and Capt. Oates said, "I'm going out, and I may be gone some time." Off in the morning on a 3-week odyssey across France to Brittany, Cornwall then Southern England and back via Dover. Heaven knows what will have happened by then.
Adios compadres!
// RIP common sense. This country saw the last of it last week.//

quite agree, common sense went outta the window when we voted to Brexit
yeah Gove thought "shall I fall on my sword?"
and thought, "no I will run BoJo through with it instead."

such are the sacrifices the great and good make when they want to rule us
I always remember the remark Jeremy Thorpe made about Macmillan in 1962 after the Night of the Long Knives when he had sacked a third of his cabinet:

There is no greater love than this, that a man lay down his friends for his life.
Khandro, //Is stabbing someone in the back to prevent them from orchestrating a perceived disaster such a bad thing? //

I'm not convinced there was a stabbing in the back. I think there may have been just a little bargaining going on there. Boris didn't expect to succeed, but since he did, the job wasn't as attractive as he thought it would be. If, however, the alleged stabbing did take place, then Mr Gove has the courage of his declared convictions.
Jackdaw, would you rather an elected politician remain faithful to his friends - or to the electorate?
If those of you who wanted brexit actually want brexit I think your best chance is with Gove warts and all
