December planning on going to Tenerife. Have been about four times in the past, to the north and the south, but always with my husband.
Totally different going for a week on my own. Enjoy walking around looking at local things, eating out in Spanish restaurants, not planning on hiring a car, speak Spanish and happy to use local transport. Where would I be most comfortable?

Thanks. I know this is not the 'best answer' but it is the nicest answer.
I have been to the south and I prefer it myself. Mind you this was a few years ago and I see it is really built up now. I was at the Playas De Las Americas and I had a great time, in fact I've been 3 times now.

Thanks SharonA, just wondering if Playa de las Americas is a bit too 'non-Spanish' these days?
It probably is! I hear it is really built up now. Bars a plenty!!!

Bars aplenty!
Not great for an older woman on her own though.
