That made me laugh. Did we ever really stop using imperial pounds?
I know the thread has moved on a bit since hc's post about babies being weighed in pounds and ounces. They're not; for at least 24 years they've been weighed in grams, but no one knows what that is really, so the midwife gives a conversion to pounds and ounces.
Not changed here but it confuses the young server behind the counter who doesn't use English units.

I cant find the stockport coroners case where a child was given twice the dose of X [ and died ] because they thought the child was 13kg and not 13lb. Under one year of age and no one thought to think oo-er 13kg is a bit heavy for a 6 mo child
