It won't be anytime soon.Cameron says it would't be right for him to implement Article 50, it should be done by his successor.
When can we expect to see Cameron officially resign as Tory leader, thus paving the way to the election of his successor?
nothing to do with intellectually challenged Junkers, but there is a mistake in today's xword gk 12,633 as far as I can see. Ibsen never wrote a play called Norma. Cartesian
I think it should be got underway asp. then it would probably take a further 2 years before full severance. It seems stupid to wait until the politicians have had their hols, to the Tory Part conference.
The priority is to elect a new leader straight away, and start the ball rolling.
The EU can push all it likes. The UK government has had a private (although not secret) conversation with the UK population. Until article 50 is triggered, nothing changes regarding the Uk”s membership of the EU and there is no timescale under which article 50 must be triggered. None. It could be triggered tomorrow or 50 years from now. The EU could of course expel the Uk but that would need a unanimous vote.
It is not necessary to invoke article 50, according to today's newspaper. It is simply necessary to repeal the European Communities Act 1972 and all its amendments by introducing a Government bill. The move would simply scrap the law ratifying Britain's membership of the EU. This would give us the authority to negotiate our exit.
While this Act remains in place we have to go on handing vast sums of money to the EU and we are still subject to its demands. The move was outlined by Lord Stoddart of Swindon, a Labour peer. He says the preoccupation with article 50 is a red herring and requires us to go cap in hand to Brussels for permission to leave.
Spot on, Elspeth. A one clause bill repealing the 1972 Act and subsequent legislation will do the trick and we can stop paying immediately.
You do need to live and trade with your neighbours afterwards.

I don't see the rush. Take your time, don't startle the timid markets any more than necessary, plan what should be done properly / get it right, then set it in motion.
You've *** yourself David ...smell.

When he's blunted the knives he's been sharpening since Friday.
elspeth he is wrong. triggering article 50 is a unilateral action which the EU cannot stop or control.
I don't get the '88' bit.

my idea of a joke...that was one of the planes germany used against us during WWII..even though this juncker is a luxembourg..
Junkers 88 was a Luftwafa German aircraft.

Junkner is Luxembourger.

Just like merkle is often referred to as Adolf Merkle, it is just a poor alliteration to EU players being Nazis.

Ah, I see. Wondered why people keep spelling his name as Junker when it is Juncker, and he is a Luxembugger.
Anyway, someone with a name like Jean-Claude has got to be a bit of a salad chef.

"it is just a poor alliteration to EU players being Nazis. "

my alliteration was mainly to the german driven aspect, not the nazi aspect, not all germans were nazis, but all nazis were german, im sure there were exceptions but you get the drift...
Question Author
....and as the driving force behind this new world order is germany, blah blah etc etc
Alliteration or allusion?

If your gonna use big words make sure you know what they mean.
