It's always our fault though isn't it aog ?
we gave £12m they spent a few quid on the building and pocketed the rest. That's what happens to foreign "aid". We should stop giving free dosh out, end of.
And spend it on our NHS and young homeless TTT.
'When I needed a shelter were you there, were you there?'

'And the creed and the colour and the amount won't matter I'll be there'....

Well, it is Sunday!
The people who have received this help have been asked what they think of their homes - they have told the truth.

//‘When the weather turns bad, we cross the yard and get into the old house where one of the walls was destroyed three years ago,’ said Ali Hossain. ‘I don’t like to speak like this because your country gave this to us, but it’s the truth.'//

The design is poor and for the money given it could have been so different.
^ Mamya, why give over 12m in the first place more to the point!
I apologise, the question is why do we give foreign aid - it's not a question about the poor construction of these dwellings?

There 's reams of literature on foreign aid and the whys and wherefores, I shan't insult anyone by posting links.

It seems gross incompetence not to be able to design suitable housing for the amount of money given.

The householders themselves seem genuinely grateful although embarrassed at the fact that the 'gift' is defective.

Or should I be getting hot and bothered because of the money being sent overseas in the first place...?
12000 homes @ 2mln = £1,667 ea? Someone has heavy pockets
Tsk tsk.
// Making these poor people suffer in such a way, will we never learn? //

who is jerking whom in this piece ?
AOg jerking around his usual adoring readership around by implying there is intention in 'making people suffer' - when there has been a charitable impulse.... erm notably absent in AOG

Mrs thingey says - at least the old mud built one kept the weather out
erm no it didnt, Mrs T - it got washed away ....
