Hello!

At the end of last month, a lot of us were down, and only a couple on the naughty step.

I bought a new toy this month, a Polar M400 - which is an activity watch - and a matching set of scales. The scales sync with the watch, and all gets recorded alongside the activity tracking. It then guesses whether you've been eating too many cream cakes (spoiler: yes). It also lets you set a weight goal, and sets your activity requirements based on that.

Maybe it's a bit pointless, but I'm enjoying the novelty so far!

I think it might have some value in the way that you can sometimes forget the sweets or snacks you've snuck in, this might remind me of the activity that I haven't done.

Anyone got a salad to share?

I had a kind of "Thrifty Ceviche" - based on this recipie here - last night. http://www.skinnytaste.com/canned-tuna-ceviche/ - it's thrifty because it uses canned tuna. I dropped the avocado and olive oil, and added separate baby leaf salad.

Also been making a warm mixed garlicky greens and smoked salmon thing. This is white-peppered broccoli, green beans, and spinach, steamed in a wok by adding a little water over and over. Once softened, add finely sliced garlic and roughly chopped spring onion. Add a tiny bit of butter to make it richer if you want, (or when you're off the diet!). Tear smoked salmon on top and serve!

Your turn!

Stayed the same after a bangers and mash feast last night, shame on me.
Have to make it a banger and mash next time then :-)
I shall keep that in mind OG. It would probably have been sufficient. :-((
Completely forgot but,I don't feel as if I have gained .probably stayed the same . Just been listening to tv . They have just said eating fat don't make you fat .wish they would get it right . I will stick to my healthy eating .with the odd treat .
I heard that too but on the radio and didn't haven't time to listen to it. We know that there are good fats and bad fats but they aren't talking to people who want to loose weight. Aargh!
If you check that you find it is very controversial. Some officials saying that the advice is unsafe.

I suspect one benefits from a certain quantity of fats (we know some are called essential because tour bodies can't make them) but that most folk eat them in excess and get fat as a result.

It's my belief that it is finding the optimum amount that is key, and perhaps ensure one avoids hydrogenated/trans fats, and maybe minimises intake of saturated. But what do I know ?
Doesn't it all boil down to eating sensibly. Did you know that there is even some fat in a piece of lettuce.......not that I think anybody is going to pig out on lettuce!
Good morning all,

Down about 1/2 pound. The salad season has begun so must look up my recipes.

Well, done xstitcher . I forgot again that is 2 weeks but I am not going to weigh today as I feel I have lost with some tops I have worn this week have had a few salad meals . Will, weigh next week and might get a nice surprise .
Well done x; well avoided wend.

I had great hopes for this week, and then ... well I was force fed the strawberries and clotted cream that my visitor arrived with. And I'm sure I couldn't have been thinking straight with the Monday Sicilian calzone and the Tuesday mixed grill.

Up 0.2 lbs overall this week.
Oh dear, force fed again OG! What a life you lead!
Very interesting reading OG. I agree with the person who said that these new articles on fat are very irresponsible.
Lots of high level controversy, to the extent that opinion/guidance is (sneakily) put out without agreement and others resign in protest.

I think I'll continue the way I am having a portion of most food types, and trying to avoid too much saturated fat. Trouble is I'm the same weight as last Saturday this Saturday :-( and it's the long weekend started.
We've been eating summer salads with a bit of oil and lemon juice dressing and I have been going down 100 gm at a time. Now I've just squeezed into the next lower number. Not much happens during the summer so we really do get some weird and wonderful articles so the papers can fill their columns.
Unusually for me, a few times in the last week or so I've been getting asparagus for Tesco at the offer of 3 packs for £4, Put together and steamed long enough they make a meal, with salt & pepper & olive oil. If feeling a little naughty a sprinkling of grated cheese, but it's not necessary. Fairly few calories, and not a salad item in sight.
