Anyone heard this saying before?
Someone said it to me today thinking I'd know what they meant because they thought that it's an old Somerset saying, I've never heard of it and neither has anyone else by the sounds of it.
Information about where it originated from seems to be a bit hazy too!

Was used in Derbyshire where I was born.
My mother used to say it in Suffolk, one of many such sayings!
Heard in Cornwall, "how's your belly off for flea bites?" with the response "pickled - how's yours?"
The expression I can remember is 'How's your belly for barnacles?'.....to which the response was 'Same as your *rs* for piecrust'
Haven't heard either of those for decades now.
Strangely, I last heard this expression at work last week, when one of my colleagues used it to another. It caused total consternation. I had heard it before - I'm from Derbyshire - and the user was brought up in Dorset by Irish parents. It seems that it may be an age thing rather than a location one, doesn't it?

///" hows ur ar*e for dingleberries " belfast slang, i know discusting but funny/// .

Not as funny as discusting
I picked this up from an older colleague at work way back in 1988 here in County Durham. I have no reason to believe he will have picked it up elsewhere. His instruction was that if asked "Hows your belly off for spots?" you should reply "The same as my a*!e for blisters!" Obviously the *&! are euphemistic replacements of letters that would otherwise render the word rude. Otherwise the word is unpronounceable even in Durham pitmatic which would even puzzle a Geordie. They could possibly pronounce it in Ashington though. I have since come across a few others who are aware of the question and response
