And the reason for the mouth is to make it more realistic. The quality ones come with a tape player so you can hear her moan. It goes something like, "And you haven't painted that fence yet, and don't get me on to leaving your dirty clothes all over the floor, and you've never liked my mother have you, why don't you get that patio cleaned up ? the lounge needs wallpapering, and that shelf is still sitting there waiting to be put up, when are you going to get those bills paid, and there is never enough housekeeping, and stop looking at our neighbour, oh and the sink is almost blocked again, we need a new microwave..."

Since, in their innocence, they thought it was an angel they were rescuing I don't suppose they thought to check it for crabs before 'worshipping' it.
