There are sincere people in all religions. It is good that God sees those people and cares about them.

But sadly, religion has been used for evil ends. (2 Corinthians 4:3, 4)
News reports show some religions are even involved in terrorism, genocide, war.

How this must sadden sincere believers in God!

goodlife - "... From an early age we all learn from books or were you so exceptional that you did not need books, were you born with the knowledge you have supposedly acquired? How idiotic your response!"

You really haven't thought this through have you? Your own post shows a level of ignorance and lack of self-awareness that is astonishing.

Ask yourself this:

1. If you had been born in 100 BC in Italy, what god(s) would you worship?
2. If you had been born in 1000 BC in Egypt, what god(s) would you worship?
3. If you had been born in 500 AD in India, what god(s) would you worship?

The 'argument from locality' demonstrated above shows that your belief in your god - even if firmly held by you - is nothing more than a consequence of you living in a particular place at a particular time in history.

Your belief in your god may feel 'real' to you but unfortunately your 'belief' is essentially meaningless to anyone other than yourself. You desperately want to believe that your god is 'real'. You need that reassurance that 'he' is there for you. You find solace by seeking out others who share your belief and by their belief, your belief is strengthened. This is known as a feed-back mechanism. It doesn't make your belief any more 'real' but it does embolden you to espouse your beliefs to others. Safety - and power - in numbers is the motto of all the modern religions.

I have no issue with your belief in a creator deity. I think it's quaint. Deluded, but quaint.

Birdie@ I have thoroughly researched my beliefs. From the time of Nimrod there have always been gods, this stems from the Tower of Babel when Jehovah confused the languages and the people dispersed around the earth, hence the similarities in many religions.

Because I believe strongly in a Creator there is no doubt in my mind that no matter what era I was born or what area of the world, I would still have the same belief that I have now.

As for seeking out others with the same beliefs, is that not true of all things?
Whether it be a sport, a hobby or an idea people gather together having a shared love. It had nothing to do with feedback - it is a human trait.

How could you have been a jehovahs witness before 1870, it hadn't existed before then?
Upon hearing of that story, the thought had occurred to me, a better name for the book from whence such tales emanate would have been . . . the "Wholly Babel"
Consulting the Bible does not constitute research into the origins of your beliefs.
I haven't read any of the replies to your post/question, but about 3 hours ago I watched 2 videos from 2 different Mosque leaders.

They were both very disturbing, and I will post them on here tomorrow when I have time.
goodlife - "... there is no doubt in my mind that no matter what era I was born or what area of the world, I would still have the same belief that I have now..."

If you believe this to be true then you are deluded. Sorry if that offends, but I speak as I find.

If you had been born in Egypt in the year 1000 BC there is absolutely no possibility that you would believe the same things you do now. To think that you would, demonstrates an ignorance and arrogance that is epic in proportion. The Egyptians were polytheists. They believed in more than one god; a god for thunder, a god for rain, a god for peace, a god for war, etc. The idea of a single creator deity was anathema in those times. For you to claim that you would be monotheistic in those polytheistic times is bordering on the insane.

Yet you proclaim that no matter what time in history you existed, you would without question be a monotheistic believer and moreover, believe in the principals put forth by Charles Russell.

Utter codswallop.

Put on the dunces hat and go and stand in the corner.

Actually, the first Jehovahs witness was Abel, he was killed for his service to his God Jehovah. Noah was a Jehovahs Witness, he witnessed to the people of his time about the coming destruction of the wicked world that existed then, just as today JWs warn of the coming destruction of the modern wicked world. Yes, I know that the Egyptians worshipped many God, so do the Hindus of today. In fact, many religions worship many Gods, but that still does not mean there is not one True God.

I do not follow any principles set down by any one man only those set out by Jesus Christ. Russell just happened to be the one who realized that many of the religious leaders were teaching things that the Bible did not. eg hell fire, the soul lives on after death, and people do not go to heaven.
As promised, here is one of videos from the Mosque, and as for sincere people in all religions, there is none with this dick-head!!!

Oh please.

You have completely and deliberately avoided my question. I would ask it again but there would be no point as you will either simply ignore it or pretend that I asked something different from what was actually written.

Your dishonesty knows no bounds. Even though there is a biblical commandment instructing you not to tell lies - "You shall not bear false witness" - you do so regardless. What does that say about you and your faith? It doesn't do you any favours in my opinion - you look both dishonest and foolish.

Despite your obvious dishonesty and willingness to lie by omission, you still haven't addressed my question as to which religion you would have believed in had you had the misfortune to be born 3000 years ago in Egypt.

I shall eagerly wait for hell to freeze over before I get a considered and reasonable response.
There is good and bad in all religions It depends how you interpret it.
. . . and therein lies the problem. Religions, having no basis in fact, are wide open to a host of interpretations, none having any more basis for determining the validity of one over the other, all claiming the sanction and justification of an alleged almighty god for any actions purportedly done in 'His' name and on 'His' behalf, a prescription for countless atrocities carried out and witnessed throughout the history of religious belief.
Exactly!

Birdie@I do not tell lies and I am not lying. You asked what religion I would have been if I lived in Egypt. Well, the Hebrews lived in Egypt and they worshipped the God Jehovah. And so would I have. Also at the time of the Exodus, many Egyptians changed their beliefs and followed the Hebrews out of the land of Egypt.

Jehovahs witnesses have been around since the very beginning. Just because the name was not used does not mean there were none.

Adam and Eve believed in Jehovah God, so did their sons. Noah, Abraham King David, Solomon, Jonah,Jesus Christ and his disciples all believed in Jehovah and talked about him (witnessed about him), Read the book of Psalms, Book of Job, Jonah and in fact, all the books of the Bible.

It gives a history as well as prophecy of the future.

That's why you don't understand, you only take bits and pieces or listen to those who don't understand. It would take you about 5 years to read the Bible thoroughly and even more to understand it and even then you wouldnot be able understand everything in it.

Even the priests and religious leaders attend theological college for some years before they qualify to their standards. BTW, that is not God's standards.

Your organisation aught to be caller "Jehovah's Perjurers". Not one of you has ever witnessed your god yet you still claim that you have.
goodlife, just to help you understand the point beso has made.

goodlife, the next line in Matthew 15:14, which you have conveniently omitted refers to all jehovah witnesses.
Amen.
