Not that anyone can do, or say anything, but I am sad this evening because my little cat, Minette, is hospitalised at Filey vets. Can't fault their service.(She had to chose Bank Holiday, didn't she? She's a cat.)

Minnie is 16 yrs. old and I found her when I moved to France, first arrival, she was sitting on a straw bale in my barn and scooted off. This was Feb. 2002. I had brought cooked mince to reheat for a meal and I put a bit on a saucer on the windowcill, it disappeared and next night she was inside - the mice, which had been triumphant, vanished. Since then we have been very close - when she began labour with her kittens she climbed up on the sofa next to me and laid her head on my lap throughout as I helped her to deliver. She talks to me a lot.

Anyway, this afternoon she was violently sick by OH's feet. Naturally he grumbled and we went into the cleaning-up process, then I noticed that Minnie was walking very badly and not in control of her back-end.. She couldn't get comfortable and was crying - so that was when I rang the emergency vet. After tests, all her bloods are normal (in fact, very good for her age) and she is now snoozing away under the feline equivalent of morphine and anti-inflammatories. Could be a blood-clot, or could be a twisted muscle (nerve) with the vomiting. Younger daughter's cat, Emma, died of a hip blood-clot aged 8.

I suppose I just want to tell people about it, I love my little girl. :)

That's good news Jourdain.

I hope she recovers soon.
Hope your cat is feeling better soon, must be very upsetting for you and her....I know how I would feel if it was my Riley.
I understand your sadness, Jourdain2. I too love my cats. They have such a short time with us. I hope little Minnette recovers and you can share some more loving times.
Frankie sends his love and he wants Minnie to know that he is looking for a girlfriend. Merlin just wants rid of her brother so she doesn't have to share their human/

Get Well Soon Minnie - I hope that the Vet understands your French.

much better news and, as you say, she’s in the right place.

Merci encore. I'm really touched by the response on here, feel a bit weepy, in fact. :o) xx

She does have a foreign-sounding 'miaow' (and she's very talkative, the vet said that she was telling her all about it) mais elle parle tres bien l'Anglaise!
I think they can be bilingual when they want to be ....I'm so glad Minette seems better, fingers crossed for you :))

'Morning again to the Minnie Fan Club!
Well, it's been another anxious morning. Vet rang just after 9 to say that there was no change and she'd have to do an X-ray. Anyway, she's just rung back and it is much better news. Minnie is waking-up nicely and there is no sign of injury, but she has bad arthritis in both her knees. We think what has happened is that she jumped down off the sideboard (she uses that to go through the serving-hatch to the kitchen, where her food is on the worktop so the dog can't scoff it), landed badly and the pain caused the vomiting and everything is inflamed.

The good news is that after my volunteer stint at school this afternoon (helping with reading) I can bring her home and keep her nice and comfy with pain relief here. I'll talk the prognosis through with the vet then - but I'm sure you'll all have lots of good advice. Thank you for caring. :o) xx

Great news. Minnie's coming home :-)
That's brilliant, jourdain:-) Best wishes to her xx
So pleased you have received better news jourdain. What with worrying about Helen and Henwy, you don't need any more stress!

brilliant!!
Now our cat is older, I have had to cut a hole in the bottom of the side gate (I call it the hedgehog hole, but it's really for the cat)

Not only was he struggling to jump over, but I was getting worried about the almighty thump when he jumped down.

Looks like I was wise, considering Minnie's plight.

I hope she gets well quickly.

And Hopkirk. You woz right - I'll have to rethink things in the house. :o) x
There's nothing nicer, absolutely nothing than bringing a much loved pet home from the vets after a worrying time, to love and care for again. Been there, done it x
Great to hear, sounds like Minette has decided to grow old disgracefully like many of us , it's only quite recently I had to stop dancing on tables.

Much love to her.x
That must be a great relief for you. Poor Minnie must feel like I do with dodgy knees. Sending her big cuddles. X
Steve sends his most courteous meows to a lady and like me, hope she gets better soon and is back home with her staff xx
