Bobby Bushtail as you see has a happy family and every morn at half past nine he'd brush their tails until they shine.

This was a Ladybird book we had as children in the late forties and early fifties.
I have never seen this particular book since.

Thanks Pixie, one would assume this was the one but I see it is a new edition edition printed in 1972. I believe the rhyme inside is different and the one I remember was Bobbie Bushtail and not Bob. So maybe the author revised and rewrote it at some point. I would still like to trace the original rhyme though.
It still "Bob" though... I had that one :-)
I don't remember Bob Bushtail. I can only remember Squirrel Nutkin.

Seems it always was Bob.
Bobby Bushtail was a squirrel, and a naughty rascal too. Sometimes he was so untidy, mother didn't know what to do. If you google that it comes up with the actual words from the book. I can't copy it on my iPad as I don't know how to do it. I had the book when I was a child, it was lovely.

Thanks everyone. Mamyalynne's link led me to the book cover I remember dated from 1941. However these now range in price from around £18 to £140, Yes I did say £140! I still have not been able to "open" one of these to reread the actual verse as in the early version. The subsequent one with the snowflakes on the cover is a different verse.
