Didn't put this in Medical, cos is more an anecdote than a question. I have a CPN, and she took me to a neighbouring hospital for an interview with someone (not relevant to this). We were v early so while we sat in car we were chatting, and my dreadful short-term memory cropped up, and I foolishly told her that I had no recollection of taking my betablocker, (80mg, slow release) that morning, so I tookanother just to be sure. She went white, + immediately got on her phone to resident consultanmt on duty to ask what should do. He was absolutely clueless, so told her to take me to A+E immediately! I refused, cos I didn't want to reschedule this appointment. Well, obviously Nursey wanted to cover her own ***, so she got someone to witness that she had wanted to take me to A+E, but I had refused to go. Well by now a little drama unfolded with everyone in waiting room tuning in to what was going on. Nursey was then advised by consultant to take my pulse regularly. Felt quite special actually ;)

I've taken a beta blocker for some years now and the only down-side I can see is that Nurse Gladys Emannuel at my surgery no longer thinks I have a cute vagina. Personally I doubt her grasp of anatomy.

A VIP with a CPN. :-)
Quite an adventure, take care Baths.
What's a CPN?
Maybe the CPN was trying to ensure your safety.

Overdosing on betablockers can slow your heart down......quite a bit.

Community Psychiatric Nurse
Thanks.

What's a community psychiatric nurse?
A drain on the NHS

@chiaro...,.,..who or what is a drain on the NHS?

I wish there was a 'like' button ^

Have a routine to take your Medicines in place, and stick to it, I sort mine out the night before, so all I have to do in the morning is 'empty the pot'

I suppose I do owe you an explanation for my comment but I'm afraid I'm not going to furnish one - I don't intend to get into a debate about how NHS resources are being utilized. Please accept my apology for commenting on your thread.

no worries chiaro, but I can assure you that my community nurse has probably saved my life, so that means a bed in high dependancy unit hasn't been needed for me. I sincerely hope you never suffer from treatment resistant clinical depression.

Baldric, I have a 7day dosette box, with 4 compartments for each day, which I fill every Saturday.....if the compartment is open, and empty, that means I have had the tablets! I have no idea what caused me to think I hadn't ;)

I'm on beta blockers, too and often find that I've forgotten whether I've taken it or not. My GP says not to worry. An extra one, or one fewer now and then won't do any harm.
