More and more I am coming across "wild garlic" in recipes. I have not been able to find this item locally. Can anyone help? Does it really matter if I use ordinary garlic? Advice please!

Hmm ... it seems the leaves not the bulb is eaten so it may well affect the dish.
When you use wild garlic, you use the leaves and flowers generally.

you can grow your own but be careful it can take over where it likes to grow! Mine is in a big pot.
I have this growing in my garden - pretty white flowers. Havent used it in cooking yet. Might give it a try

Many thanks - I hadn't realised I needed the leaves and not the cloves so of course it will make a difference. I will have to look harder or grow my own.
(A further search says that the wild garlic bulb can be used but is more subtle than your normal garlic; so why would you not use normal garlic bulbs ?)
You can use ordinary garlic
Apparently there is black garlic as well but I have never seen it in the shops.
