Employee starting part time salary £3,656.25 pa. Only works 39 weeks per year so paid pro rata. If only works 3 weeks for the first month ...is pay calculated x3 weeks @ £70.31 = £210.93 OR calculated 1 month minus 1 week = £304.69 - £70.31 = £234.38 ?

Maybe it's based on days/hours worked.
you need to know what the full time annual salary equivalent and weekly hours are, and work from there:

divide the full time annual salary by 52 to calculate the weekly wage;
divide the weekly wage by number of full-time hours to calculate the hourly rate;
multiply the hourly rate by the number of weekly hours actually worked by the part-time employee

Humbersloop. The full time salary is £3,656.25 as it is a job share post. So the weekly salary is £70.31, monthly £304.69... I just need to know if only works 3 weeks do you just x 3 weekly rates, or 1 month MINUS 1 week ?
Can't see why it would be a month minus a week since that is mixing up weeks and months. It's be easier to base it either on number of days . You may be better asking at work to see how they do it
It is down to how the company decides to calculate it. Most straighforward would be 3 x week but they could do either.
Can you check with them?

Very small company. Payroll lady is off sick so I am preparing the spreadsheet for salaries to be submitted next week eeekkk !!! Looking back staff have been paid weekly rate if not worked for certain weeks. Thanks all.
Ah I see, good luck :)
I believe it is more likely that a company paying a monthly salary would opt for paying the number of days worked in the first month. So if the employee starts by working from, say, 8th of April the payment would be calculated as: 22/30 of £3656.25 ÷ 12 (the monthly pay) = £223.44. This is a better way to apportion earnings.

Incidentally, the correct way of calculating a week's money from a salaried figure is to multiply the figure by 52.14 (365 ÷ 7) or, in the case of a leap year, by 52.29 (366 ÷ 7). Fascinating, eh?
