/// The Tories would use headhunters to scour the country for more women and ethnic minority candidates under proposals unveiled by controversial chairman Lord Feldman. ///

And before you all start attacking me, this is a little bit of fun to start off a debate on the real issue of the story.

Is there a place for diversity in politics, or should it still be 'the best person for the job'?

Best person for the job. This PC b**cks has gone on long enough.

Guess that's one less vote for the Tories (from me).
It should always be trying to find the best person for the job. But if it is just a case of encouraging sections of society to consider roles they might otherwise not, and not a case of evil discrimination, then that's fine. Headhunting suggests the latter though.
What you call PC *** is the under-represented standing up for themselves. It won't disappear. I'm afraid anyone who talks of PC *** appears to be behind the times.
People who think PC bullocks is still valid are the ones behind the times.
Reminds me of the time, many years ago, when a kindly Irish lad advised me to 'cop myself on and get a pair of flares'. (several years after they went out of fashion)

And who says the PC *** times, are the best times, so being behind them, may not be all bad?
Generally speaking the media as a whole. But it does conduct exposes in how bad the old times were. There were good things too-like less obesity and children allowed out and so on. But these were more bigoted times. But even things like transexualism are not understood-these prejudices may need to be overcome?
I generally agree with the best man for the job, though.

Aren't you thinking of 'head shrinkers', rather than 'head hunters'?
I am surprised their head of spin hasn't suggested scouring the country side for disabled people. Sort of damage limitation exercise after the budget. :-(

Headhunting and peacemaking

In the past, the Dayak were feared for their ancient tradition of headhunting practices (the ritual is also known as Ngayau by the Dayaks).

Surely if one is in the head shrinking business, one has to first go head hunting, as they don't normally shrink heads still attached to bodies.
