Victoria Pendleton was in the Foxhunters Chase, after her fall the other week she was quoted at 33/1 for the race.
Good odds I thought so I had £5 each way.
I was amazed she came safely round in fifth position. I thought I would get some winnings as there were more than 18-20 runners, was surprised when the bookies said they only paid out on the first 4 places, does this sound right? Would appreciate your comments, thanks.

I don't bet but I always thought each way usually only covered first 3 places so 4 seems a fair deal.
Bookies payout on 4 places in handicaps with 16 or more runners. The Foxhunters Chase is not a handicap but bookies generally offered 4 places
Some bookies paid out e/w on her and they let her unsaddle in the winners enclosure because of all the hype
Some bookies pay out on 5th place, as a gimmick to encourage you to bet with them, but 4 places is usual in this type of race.
If the race is a handicap and there are more than 16 runners 4 places will be paid. However, some bookmakers will pay 5 places in certain races.
