Sqad...there is no medical reason whatsoever for any kind of FGM to place, at all. It is barbaric, and I for one couldn't give a monkeys what one backward ethnic group thinks.
I am somewhat surprised that you, of all people, should be giving any succour to this.
mikey...well, that is me and 2 American Gynaecologists that has come under the wrath of AB..............for offering an alternative to a policy that clearly isn't working.
I am far from being happy to stifle debate. But, to be honest, if you are going to stick with your comments, you had better be prepared to defend your argument.
The reason that its still happening in Britain, is that the various authorities are standing by and allowing it. More vigorous measures need to be applied to stop it happening, not making up some excuse why it should continue.
sqad, //LOL......well, that certainly obviates any debate.//
As it should along the lines you suggest. To even consider conceding to a thoroughly barbaric practice simply because uneducated people of an antiquated culture deem it a necessity is unthinkable. What next? Lopping heads off surgically and safely?!
The phrases 'nuanced position ...' and 'cultural sensitivities ...' could only possibly have been coined by western adult males who are well past the age, and not the gender involved, where someone would come and cut off part of their genitalia with a blunt knife and no anesthetic.
The crux of the argument likes in the phrase used to describe it.
Gentlemen - you need to focus your minds on the 'M' bit of FGM - it stands for mutilation.
Do you have a problem understanding what that means?
If so, I am sure there is a queue of people with a blunt knife and a degree of righteous anger who will be delighted to drop round to your place and demonstrate it for you.
