Wouldn't it be great if we could have six months of terrible cold weather.

Think how many refugees and others would go home, wonderful.
Beneath every dark cloud there's a silver lining.

Refugees Go Home, . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . now there's a result.

Helsinki to Hell sink I.
This rather proves that Asylum claims from this part of the world are in the most bogus.

Couple this with the fella that went back off to Syria after his poor kid washed up on the beach and thousands of young single men.

The whole thing is a joke, perpetuated by the liberal left.

we attack their country, destroy their government, leave Isis free to grow from the mess, and somehow it's all their fault.

One must question their real reasons for seeking 'asylum'. Doubtless a good result for Finland.
A few weeks ago I was reading that 2 plane-loads a day/week were returning to Syria from Germany. The one's interviewed had similar complaints about weather, money, housing, etc.
Like Naomi, I thought, that's very enlightening. Wish I'd posted it now, instead of succumbing to the pressure on here not to post anything negative.
My wife's nephew lives and works in Finland. He says that it all takes a lot of getting used to, especially the Finns, who don't tend to chat but speak when there's something to say.
I don't know any Iraqis but from what I've seen on the news they seem to avoid 'quiet' except when asleep.
Maybe missing the banter.

Blow the authorities Sandy, it appears that the locals didn't make them welcome, and it is them and not the authorities who have to live and share their infrastructure with them. So perhaps that's the secret don't make them welcome.

/// with some saying they dislike the frosty weather and find the locals unfriendly. ///
The ‘horrors’ they escaped from are clearly preferable to cold weather.
When they first arrived they were told that a condition of remaining was to be able to eat Salmiakki without spitting any out.
A tall order, believe me. Sorts the men from the masochists.

The stark truth hurts sometimes Svejk. Just because it's what some people don't want to hear doesn't mean it's not fact does it?

Exactly. This is where cultural identity is at threat. Replicate this times however many countries then this is where tensions grow.

They chose Finland, why? It wouldn't be because they thought it was prone to heatwaves.

Obviously not. If you haven't got a sufficient feeling of security you have very little. A very strange set of priorities. Persecuted by the weather - blow me!

Maybe those wishing to reside in Finland had stuck it out a bit longer then maybe this is what they eventually could have expected:
