I have been doing this for 5 weeks and first week lost 4.5 lb second week 2lb the next 1lb and since have stayed the same, although I am doing the diet by the book, I have also become very bloated and windy, could this be the reason my weight loss has stopped, I have an underactive thyroid, but I take medication for it.

It's the porridge, fruit salad, and all the fruit.

Stick with it. I have known some people who have had great success with it.

I use a lot of the recipes. I like the lots of wholemeal pasta, lots of wholemeal rice part.
Ignore what you "lost" the first week, just eating less food (and having less food in your body) will show a 4 or 5 pound drop in the first week, but it is not a "real" weight loss. Everybody gets that the first week.

And once a diet starts then 1 or 2 pounds a week is about right (some weeks no loss) so you should not start worrying.

Remember weight can be put on over many months and years so it is not going to come off in a few weeks.

Any weight loss program should be thought of as a many months or years thing, not a "quick fix".

Just eat well and do some simple exercise and the weight will gradually come off.

I get sick of all these books and fancy diets, there is no "magic" solution.

You put weight on if you eat too much and don't exercise, if you eat less and exercise weight will (slowly) come off. It is that simple.

But DON'T rush it, it can take months or years.
Be sure to drink plenty and changing you A & B choices can help. Speak to your consultant and ask for help in group someone else will be having similar problems. I've lost 3st 31/2 lbs since the end of June. Very pleased

Keep at it it does work Good luck. Happy to help if I can

Well done granny on your weight loss, and thanks guys for comments, bednobs Im not past the menopause but in the middle of it, but I get so disappointed when I do well all week then dont see a loss at the end of it, I have even upped my exercise even if it is only walking.
Are you eating plenty of speed food
Question Author
Yes loads bednobs with every meal
what is speed food
I think it's vegetables, jenny. The s/w diet is based on proteins and speed, i.e., meat, fish, and plenty of veggies.
