Can anyone recommend a decent, inexpensive printer?

It's worth paying a bit more for a printer that's cheap to run rather than buying a really cheap printer and then finding out that even third-party inks are expensive. Thanks all for the helpful advice.

It seems we have several votes for the HP Envy 5530, which counteracts my recent bad experience of HP printers.

Alternatively I have Chris's well researched recommendation of the Canon.
If I got the Canon in white from Argos it would be £10 cheaper than the HP Envy.

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure.
I have an Epsom printer which does B/W, colour, scans and does double sided. Have had it for at least 5 years without any trouble. Downside if I could find one is that it takes 4 ink cartridges but they last for ages.

Thanks Maggie, but I fought with Epsom printers for a while and swore never to buy one again. Also I found the ink to be extortionate.
