Is anyone else struggling? The Christmas feature is easy enough, but I can't work out the Dads Army film location (Stanton?), let alone the seasonal-sounding hamlet 15 miles to the east of it. Help, perlease!

Norfolk (and Suffolk) Film Locations
Most of the external footage for the series was filmed in and around the town of Thetford in Norfolk. Each summer the cast and crew would come up to the town and stay in either the Bell or the Anchor Hotels in Bridge Street. The actors usually stayed at the more 'up-market' Bell while the crew lodged at The Anchor. (The Anchor Hotel is now boarded up and derelict but may be re-developed shortly.)

Thanks, Baldric. I'm from Suffolk and found the blank spot north of Thetford on the map, enjoyed your added detail, but am no wiser about the seasonal-sounding hamlet starting with s some 15 miles to the right of it.

Ah ok didn't know it was supposed to start with S, will have another think
Maybe it starts with a soundalike of snow or santa
There's a place called - Snow Street , Norfolk.
I've not seen the original question but are you sure that you're using the correct starting point? The Dad's Army TV series was filmed around Thetford but the new Dad's Army film was shot around Bridlington.

Chris, 15 mls East of Bridlington is a bit too damp I suspect
Or is Sledmere

Well, I am relieved others are struggling. Apologies for not giving fuller information. The clue is explicit about referring to the 1970s sitcom, so the more recent film won't work. The seasonal-sounding hamlet has two words and the first has to start with S.
Ah- back to square one then.
If Snow Street is a hamlet that looks good
Well , Snow Street is 14.7 miles to the east of Thetford.

Yes, I think you are right Mamyalynne. Many thanks.
Good luck.
I have pinched the answers from another site, I have no idea if they are right.
