Marshwarble. I don't think this is really to do with politics. Kraft made a promise before the merger went ahead and they broke it immediately after. The promise couldn't have been clearer and Keynsham deserved better than what they got. Mikey, companies run their businesses as they see fit. I think it's a pity that people lost their jobs, but it happens. Other companies expand and jobs are created. That's life.
/// Yet another chocolate firm gets sold to the US... ///

Sounds to me a little anti-US, xenophobia to me.

There was no need to mention the US.

Incidentally how I read it, is the fact that it has not been sold yet anyway.

/// is 'SOLICITING INTEREST' in a takeover of Terry's, ///
Still not sure whether you are supporting or condemning asset-strippers like Kraft ? They behaved disgracefully.
I neither condemn nor support - but I do understand business.
But not people Naomi !

Jobs in a place like Keynsham are important and you are still refusing to condemn the company that lied to its workers and then lied again before the Committee.

"its a pity" really doesn't cut the mustard Naomi...have you no compassion ?
I do have compassion, but I acknowledge that if companies don't take care of business, there are no jobs. It's not rocket science.
Its not rocket science to condemn an asset-stripping, lying company like Kraft either, but apart from some "pity" you still refuse to do so. Interesting stance Naomi !
Pleased you find it interesting. Carry on and you might learn something about how business works and how jobs are created.
I have given you plenty of opportunities to condemn Kraft Naomi, so I'm not sure I can add anything new to this thread !
// They lied, and was called to appear before a Parliamentary select committee to explain why. ::::: //

Kettle black pot etc etc.
Mikey, you have given me opportunities? I'm not sure whether to laugh or to be eternally grateful for that.
The choice is yours Naomi !
Haaaaaaaaaa!

I'm a Labour supporter, Mikey, but I don't quite see what you expected Kraft to do. Compassion can only go so far. The chocolate companies did start as beneficial businesses, but so many food companies fold-look at the price of cocoa.

The promise couldn't have been clearer and Keynsham deserved better than what they got.

Like the Commons Select Committee, I draw the conclusion that Kraft were being less than honest when it came to their evidence. I go further and state that I believed they lied, in order to get the merger underway. That is why we should be suspicious about the present situation regarding Terrys.

Beware of American businessmen bearing gifts perhaps ?
Why the sudden interest in Terry's? They haven't produced chocolate in the UK for years as they closed their factory in York after the takeover.
Question Author
It is kind of political though. Bad capitalists, good humanitarians?
Bad capitalists, no jobs.
Tom Hanks has bought Terry's Choccie? Wow... who knew !
