As I write I am downloading W10 after so many requests to do so. I'm still a bit nervous of installing it though. I'm on W7 at the moment, what will happen when/if I do the installation, what will be the main noticeable difference, will all my settings be the same? please.

If you are seeking to add a quick launch icon to access a web site such as www.google.com from within Edge try: - Goto the desired Web Site address in Edge - At the top Right-Hand corner of Edge you should see a three dots icon '...'. Click the icon to expand a drop down list - Select 'Pin to Start' Now when you click the Windows Start button (bottom left-hand corner of...

Wow them hot ladyboys like w10. They posting non stop.
Favourites Bar across the top?
yes, i'm alright now. (sort of)
Question Author
Exploring the very important symbols top right, so found 'favourites' etc. but don't know how to cut/copy and paste yet ... help!
Question Author
ok found it! right click on highlighted text - simple !
Question Author
For the record, and anyone dithering; I'm loving it so far! Thought I'd lost my 'favourites', had the bar across the top though, but found I have to click on a little 3 horizontal line symbol top right and the list drops down as before though neater and on the right.
I see I have still got adblockplus installed but it isn't functioning, this could be because I'm still using the old version of Google, might it work if I change to (something else I've been resisting) Chrome?
Khandro give edge a whirl. The old bolt on ad blockers are not really compatible with w10. I think w10 are working on an upgrade for a defined ad block. It is asked for so many times in the Microsoft tech blogs.
Another tip Khandro. Click on the ... symbol top right and go to advanced settings to find your pop up block options and other options.
These reminders from MS are basically a very aggressive ad campaign; and I don't think they should be allowed to open up their ads on my private PC without explicit owner's permission. If you remove an "update" that creates them, they only update you with it again anyway.

Personally I plan to give it a bash around March/April (if I remember) after most wrinkles have been ironed out by the kind beta testers. If all goes well update my woman's PC a little while after. Meanwhile the intrusive ads are rather annoying.
You could also try the Opera browser http://www.opera.com or Firefox browser http://www.firefox.com and then download / add your ad stuff which will work ok in win 10
OG, the kind beta testers like me and millions of others were using it for months before the general release. W10 is stable and as bug free as any OS.
Question Author
I figured that since July, and with so many users, they should have fixed any glitches that appeared by now, so if you are intending to swap OG, you may as well go for it, - at least it will keep you pleasantly occupied for a few days :0)

Update; everything going well and I find lots of advantages - moving around between various sites is a joy. One small thing I can't figure out, when I want to go into Google (old version) I have to first go into edge and the select it from my favourites, is there a way of putting an icon on the taskbar or somewhere so I can go straight to it please?
I'm not too sure what you are trying to achieve.

Would having google.co.uk open as a new page in Edge help? This can easily be done in Edge's settings.

Or would you prefer to use Chrome as your browser which would, of course, put the google icon on your taskbar.
Question Author
hc; I didn't know with chrome it would show up in the taskbar. I think it might be time I switched to chrome, I've resisted it for a while. Like switching to W10 I feared it might give more complications, I guess you would recommend it?
A lot of people don't like it, but I do. It suits me very well in all respect.
In any case you can have as many browsers as you like - time for you to explore a few, I think.
If you are seeking to add a quick launch icon to access a web site such as www.google.com from within Edge try:

- Goto the desired Web Site address in Edge
- At the top Right-Hand corner of Edge you should see a three dots icon '...'. Click the icon to expand a drop down list
- Select 'Pin to Start'

Now when you click the Windows Start button (bottom left-hand corner of screen) you should see listed within the 'Tiles Icons' area the newly pinned Web page (note you may have to click the scroll down bar to see it listed at the bottom of the icons page).

You can then move the newly created Web page icon to the top of the Tiles list by mouse click/press and whilst keep pressing drag the icon to the top of the Tiles for future ease of access use.

pinkyboyid ; Brilliant! thank you, just what I wanted. For the last couple of days in order to get to google I had to first enter edge and have to look at a mug-shot of the American abortion assassin and/or Jeremy Corbyn and I'm not sure which was the worst!
