Paul wrote: “Whenever it is that they are saying: ‘Peace and security!’ then sudden destruction is to be instantly upon them just as the pang of distress upon a pregnant woman; and they will by no means escape.” (1 Thessalonians 5:1-3)

Just what causes that false cry of “peace and security” is not stated, and only time will tell; but it will not forestall the coming of judgment.

//Just what causes that false cry of “peace and security” is not stated, and only time will tell//

No point in talking about it then.

(I'm not sure whereabouts in the Far East you mean).
What was Paul smoking at the time ?
//What was Paul smoking at the time ?//

Acacia. It is has significant content of DiMethyTryptamine (DMT). Probably stood too close to a "burning bush".

Ancient Egyptians also used it to make a wine that would induce hallucinations where "gods" would appear to them.
....Perhaps Paul wasn't smoking anything....perhaps he was accurately predicting Munich 1937 ?....Or perhaps that's just co-incidence ?....
Or perhaps that's just nuts.
Not only have our leaders never experienced first hand warfare, neither have their parents either, and therefore they assume that life owes us an existence in comfort and security. Unfortunately they are completely fail to grasp that they have lived through a unique period since WWII such as the world has never before seen, and that the world owes us nothing.
Angela Merkel (she who has lost her mind) and her cohorts, along with a variety of woolly EU liberals are freely and vaingloriously handing away this very 'peace and security' so dearly paid for by previous generations.
Is it such a troubled region? The Middle East now, that's a sorry place and no mistake.
"...Or perhaps that's just nuts..." - AB - er's will be able to draw their own conclusions...
This one did.
St Paul's preaching seemed to be powerfully influenced by the conviction that the Second Coming would happen within a very few years - possibly within his own lifetime. This, presumably, would include some sort of apocalypse, so he was warning against complacency.
But I doubt if he even knew the far East existed.
But anyone who warns against complacency would surely be justified sooner or later wherever and whenever s/he lives.

The Bible’s position is in harmony with the lessons of history. It does not recommend putting our hope in human efforts to bring peace

No, but it foretold long ago that human efforts would never bring lasting peace. It forewarned that just before the end of this system of things, wars and disorders would escalate worldwide. (Revelation 6:1-4)
^Strange plan really coming from an omniscient being. No sense to it at all.

Everybody needs it from time to time. The World Book Encyclopedia says that recreation may even make “an important
contribution to an individual’s mental and physical health.

Why, the Bible itself says that there is “a time to laugh, (Proverbs 13:20)
Nevertheless, it warns: “He that is walking with wise persons will become wise, but he that is having dealings with the stupid ones will fare badly.” (Proverbs 13:20)
^So is the moral of that story if we're all very serious but have a laugh now and again, peace will come to the Far East eventually? (Still no idea which bit of the Far East you're talking about).
I wonder if goodlife is considering a Korea move?
Haaa! Doubt it!

No,I am saying looking at matters from a natural standpoint, informed men and women have become convinced that now peace among the nations is an absolute necessity.

But whatever this world system for a desperate at to unite in creating peace, it would be nothing more than an old-world system, no more workable than any other man-made thing in the past.

If you want to fool yourself to expect that a suddenly an break-through man will happily create his own arrangement for a lasting unbreakable peace, history plainly shows that not to so.

History also shows the conspicuous absence of your God when death and destruction are among his chosen people.

If the parable of the shepherd is true, that he leaves ninety-nine sheep to save one, what is happening to the good god-fearing people dying at the hands of Isis on a daily basis? Where is your 'Saviour' now?

I don't fool myself - but I know a man who does.
