Poor Dental Hygiene = Indigestion?

I ask because by poor old uncle had been suffering indigestion and reflux for some weeks and getting very little relief from over the counter meds.

He had to see the dentist because of toothache and the dentist gave his teeth a good clean and polish. It is fair say uncle isn't the cleanest of men and doesn't really take care of his personal hygiene.

Straight away the indigestion and reflux has stopped. Is this coincidence or is there a link between dirty teeth and indigestion?

I read somewhere that indigestion/stomach problems can cause bad breath.

My opinion?...Coincidence, but good luck to uncle.

I would be far more impressed if uncle say his GP and was referred for a gastroscopy (Camera into the stomach)

If it comes back we'll 'persuade' him to see the GP. He's a stubborn old goat.

Thanks, both
Well has been taking lots of painkillers for the toothache? (probably not as he's a man) but they can certainly upset the stomach.

That's a thought, prudie, but no he hasn't been taking pain killers.
