Their membership should be suspended and an inquiry set up to get to the facts of the incident. Turkey should apologise immediately to Russia, and compensate them for the aircraft. If the inquiry finds they were in the wrong, they must serve a probationary term as a affiliate member. It is dangerous for the UK and the rest of NATO to be allied with a rogue state.

Tuesday? A Tuesday in June 2012 :-)
Blimey you know your history AOG

Just as Chamberlain cut CzachoSlovakia loose in 1938 - a small county about which we know nothing ....

I mean it certainly solved the growing Nazi menace didnt it ?

Perhaps you should brush up on your history. Chamberlain didn't cut Czechoslovakia loose in 1938, he did everything to prevent war breaking out, first between Germany and Czechoslovakia.

After many meetings between Germany, Britain, France and Italy over Germany's right to the German speaking part of Czechoslovakia, an agreement was signed by Hitler, and no one at that time knew that Hitler would go back on his word.

Russia now deploys S-400 ant-aircraft missile system in Syria. With a range of 250 miles and capable of hitting Cyprus and undetectable to all but the American stealth aircraft F-22 and B-2s. The missile cruiser Moscva is off the coast of Syria with orders engage any target that appears to be a threat. Not at all premeditated of course.

So the date he said negates the point does it?

2012
Erdogan criticized Syria harshly on Tuesday for shooting down the Turkish fighter jet, saying: "Even if the plane was in their airspace for a few seconds, that is no excuse to attack."

2015
Erdogan " if the plane was in our airspace even for a few seconds, that is the excuse we wanted to attack."
Firstly. talbot, saying "Tuesday" seemed to imply "last" or "next Tuesday" as it usually does
As it is, this was an incident from over 3 years ago, when it may no longer be possible to recall whether President Assad had phoned President Erdogan (as president Erdogan did Putin) 2 months beforehand when the incursions first started, to complain. Or whether 10 warnings had been issued over a period of 5 minutes :-)
Should the Turks Membership Of Nato Now Be Questioned?
Yes absolutely! What we should realize is that Putin is in the war against Islamic extremism, and no matter what some may think of him as a human being, actually on our side, Russia is the main bulwark against the spread of Islamic extremism.
Erdogan is the 'enemy within', - a dangerous, maniacal 5th columnist, who wishes to turn the former secular Turkey into an Islamic state and one may I add, which would if he could, become part of the EU.
Putin, plainly, is not on "our side"
He is on our side to the extent that Al Nusra is on "our side" !

Incidentally on the subject of ISIL oil, President Erdogan (who by the way I have no particular time for but everything is relative) in his Fr24 interview last night, claimed the Americans also had evidence that IS were selling oil to ... Assad. So does that make Assad a supporter of IS too?
The Russians (when they aren't stealing it) by icoal from illegal mines in E Ukraine, so , you know ... it's difficult to say who's black and who's white ...
"buy coal"
