Their membership should be suspended and an inquiry set up to get to the facts of the incident. Turkey should apologise immediately to Russia, and compensate them for the aircraft. If the inquiry finds they were in the wrong, they must serve a probationary term as a affiliate member. It is dangerous for the UK and the rest of NATO to be allied with a rogue state.

No.

This has been brewing for quite a while, Russia (Putin) has been behaving very aggressive toward the rest of the World so it was only a matter of time before someone had enough.

I wonder if they are still considering their application to be part of the EU?

Yes speculation of increasing hostilities between the West and Russia, is completely in the West's hand, they should distance themselves from Turkey immediately.

I bet ISIS is loving this.
It's not often I regard youngmafbog as the voice of reason but on this he most certainly is: and seemingly the only one, at that
I sometimes wonder what planet some ABers live on
ichkeria
looks like your in a minority you do know turkey supports and funds isis
and how has putin be aggressive towards the west. if bush and blair had been gagged there would be no isis at all.read up on how isis came about
I think Turkey has dropped an enormous ball cock by shooting down the Russian jet. It not as if the jet was trying invade Turkey was it ?

Extremely foolish act, for which there will almost certainly to repercussions.

As someone has already said, ISIS must be bent over double laughing.
Et tu Mikey ??
Lol
Of course Russia wasn't trying to invade Turkey. That isn't the point.
As for repercussions, we've already seen them: Lavrov telling Russians they shouldn't holiday in Turkey for their own safety. Which if you think about it is rather crass. As if Russian holiday makers are going to be shot at for invading Turkish airspace :-)
Ich,
You have a pathologic hatred of the Russians, perhaps with good reason. But it is blinding your judgement of this incident.
The Turks behaved recklessly and illegally. And they have compounded that by refusing to apologise.

Though I love the country and the people, Turkey is now lead by a very dangerous Islamist leader. And we should keep our distance.
Ich,
I hope the Russians do boycott holidaying in Turkey. They are an horrible people, good riddance.

But I think it was more of a veiled threat than travel safety advice.
I don't have a pathological hatred of Russians and I suggest you withdraw that rsther offensive and groundless remark
I will pass no comment, on the other hand, on your rather sweeping generalisation about Turks :-)
Oh, you meant the Russians I see. Well I'm confused now. You've rather shot your own point in the foot there. I probably like Russians more than you do by the sound of it. But their government and media are pathological liars : latest evidence the pilot claiming that thrre wax no warning which is patently false. Truth had never featured in Russian culture - they aren't masters of the fictional novel for nothing
Gromit...with you all the way at 19:20.
I'm sorry but in my world, and let's not forget that the skies over the Turkey Syria border are not like the skies over Kent, if a hostile aircraft ignores multiple warnings to back off and ignores them then what are you supposed to do. One plane did withdraw, the other did not. You can argue that the Turkish approach is belligerent, but it is not as if they have not given fair warning of their intentions. For months they have endured incursions in their airspace. And they have warned and warned to no avail. To brand then effectively as savages who do not deserve to be in NATO is crackers. If Tirkey was suspended from NATO it would be Putin who'd be laughing and probably punching the air shouting 'suckers' And he'd be right
Tony: I have a word for those statements by that pilot: skazki (fairy tales)
:-)

Erdogan criticized Syria harshly on Tuesday for shooting down the Turkish fighter jet, saying: "Even if the plane was in their airspace for a few seconds, that is no excuse to attack."
what does ex-President Sarcastic have to do with it, though he may well inherit the title from Monsieur Sauce Hollandaise?

All noise and posturing, not that it couldn't be taken further......
