Cats Eyes...

Driving through the countryside in the night, I often see animals eyes gleaming in the darkness.
Most eyes that I see in the headlights appear to me, as yellow, orange or silver, sometimes with a green tinge.
Last night though, I saw a black cat what had the most vivid, electric-blue eyes I'd ever seen.
Unusual ?, well it certainly was for me, I just wondered if anyone else had seen this before.

The part of a cat's eye that is blue when a kitten, is the iris. What you see when you view eyes by shining a light on them in the dark, is light reflected back through the lens from the retina (hence the problems with "red-eye" in flash photography). Cats have blue eyes when born pretty much like human babies but they change as they grow again like human babies its just more unusual to have have blue eyes.
