My back gate is bolted only and a bit of snib goes ok.

Yesterday I put Maxie out to pee when I looked god love him he is round at the front of the house.

WEnt out to look at bolt - door was open right enough but snib was the same length.

Last night I put a lock on it and the same thing has happened this morning.

Neighbours has said the wind etc - can cause this. Not one night with snib and opening with the lock. I will keep an eye tonight and tomorrow morning will ensure door is not opened and look for something elese in B&Q or something.

Have you anything sturdy - a wheelie bin, wheel barrow ?? Just something strong enough to keep it shut.

If not pop his lead on for his constitutionals tonight.

Thanks Mamy - well I was away for about half an hour and gate opened and I had put him out again - when the wee head peered through the ajar gates. Went out and found I have a very very loose plank and even whilst I was standing it a gust of wind blew the plank back releasing the bolt. So I have something heavy against - I will need the plank fixed for the rest of this weather.

am dead happy - he could have escaped easily but no bless him he stayed there - harvey would have been gone and gone all night. So thank the lord I have got the right companion. Love him to bits my one and only friend.
Could you tie it with some kind of rope? Washing line, for example?
What .... tie Maxie up with a washing line ? .. the RSPCA will be banging on your door bb.
alavahalf, I can see the direction that your thoughts are going - I think - but, no (speaking gently) that is not exactly what I meant. I was (speaking gently again) referring to the g.a.t.e. that could be tied up. Nobody loves animals more than I do (as long as they belong to someone else), and I would not wish any of them to come to harm (as long as they belong to someone else, again). Please do not report me to the RSPCA, as I am about to have my tea, and I would not wish to be disturbed. Thank you for your concern sigh .
I think alavahalf should change his name to alavalaff
He's a nice lad, really, you know.
