E-Bay "item Location"

This is really a question for anyone here who shops on e-bay.

I have just ordered something fairly expensive from an e-bay seller who (on the item description) claims to be UK based but when you look at the seller's actual page, it then says they're based in Hong Kong.
The delivery time stated (1-2 weeks) would suggest they might have a holding address over here .
IF the item is delivered from Hong Kong and I get stung for import duty, can I demand that they re-fund that part given that they have claimed to be UK based?

As they are based in HK UK laws may not apply and eBay do warn about import/custom fees are the responsibility of the buyer.

If the seller is prepared to lie about such a basic thing I wouldn't trust him about anything and cancel the order, especially as the item is expensive.

Thanks - what I'll probably do is refuse to pick it up if there are charges and settle it with e-bay on the grounds of deception ie. it says 'based in uk' - will get a screenshot just to be sure.
Some Hong Kong sellers hold stocks in the UK and dispatch goods from here.

When you select anything from their shop it says "Item location - UK" and all of the items when viewed are listed as if they're in the UK (everywhere else says the country next to the item).
If it was in Hong Kong you'd have to pay more.
I would not buy from that seller. His returns policy goes against the UK consumer laws and he will not refund the cost of return postage even if the goods are faulty, although I suspect eBay/PayPal will not give him the choice.

His business hours are 9am - 7pm (GMT+8) which means he is in Hong Kong.
If you have to return the item to HK it could be expensive. He doesn't give a physical address as he is required to by eBay.
