Speaking of "halfwits on the news", did you see any of the responses to Kay Burley's tweet of a sad-eyed dog, which supposedly suggested that even animals were devastated by the Paris attacks?
(As an ageing technophobe, I'm not sure how to link to tweets, but I'm sure you'll be able to find it, TTT.)

Did they gloss over that Daily Mail cartoon or go to town on it?
I know I am thought of as a bit of hard bitten cynic, and a lot more besides, but I can assure you that dogs do sense sadness and pain coming from their owners. If I were grief stricken and balling my eyes out I know the dogs I have had would be most agitated, whining, licking face, wagging tail etc. Dogs are intelligent, sensitive and loyal.
Thanks for that, Togo, but it wasn't the version I originally saw. It contained much 'bolder' language than the Mail would have dared to print. One picture showed a dog with wide-open jaws, as if it was laughing aloud. The caption - which I daren't reproduce exactly either - read "Look at this callous f-word! He doesn't care about the Paris attack!"
Yes, Retro, of course pet dogs are sensitive to their owners emotions. However, there wasn't any real suggestion that the dog in Burley's picture belonged to a sad Parisian; it just looked like a 'sad' dog.
^ I don't even think the dog looks particularly sad.

That is almost too near the truth . Perhaps a sardonic smile may be allowed.
Old Mo will see neither before he meets Allah. :-)
The dog does have a look of De Gaulle about it.

Kay Burley is not very bright.
