my girlfriend recently got informed that the doctors believe her gallbladder is acting up, they told her to avoid greasy and fatty foods which I understand. what I don't understand is they told her to drink pedialite, which is a childs drink and to be drinking a lot of apple juice but half juice half water is this normal advice?

This is called "flushing the Gall Bladder" and is supposed to dissolve gallstones over a 4 day period of treatment with Apple juice and fluids. Some doctors feel that it is fact......others feel it is a myth. Me?.........I think it is a myth.

I don't know if it's normal advice but it seems pedialyte is becoming popular among adults in the US as a way of rehydrating and replacing electrolytes

I think its significant that when you google "flushing the gallbladder", one site comes up saying its quackery and all the rest of the sites that come up advocating it are of the kind that I wouldn't believe if they said that the sky was blue.

The usual gallbladder flush diet includes large amounts of olive oil as well as the apple juice.
