My cat is an indoor cat and adorable with me most of the time although she can be moody at times however it is really weird she has a real dislike of my mother. On monday my mum came to my house for a couple of hours while I was at the hospital and my dad took me she went behind a curtain and spat and hissed at my mother as soon as she went near her. Then last night my mum came down to see me and the cat was sitting in the bedroom and as soon as my mother came into the room she didnt even speak to her the cat hissed at her. My mum is upset about it like me she loves animals and no cat has ever been hostile to her she has had 2 of her own. To me this makes no sense the only thing I can think of is that sometimes I have argued with my mother when she has been at the house over the years could the cat have picked up on that and seen her as a threat?

Could be as simple as your cat smelling your mother's cats on her and not liking it, thinking her home is being invaded by strange cats?
Get your mum not to approach your cat, not to make eye contact and to make no attempt to approach her. She doesn't like your mum and your mum stresses her out.

Go to the website for the Your Cat magazine, they answer problems and, perhaps, someone has asked for help on the same problem.

My girl cat is confident with strangers but she has a short fuse and will attack and bite for no apparent reason - Girl Power :-)

Get rid of your mother.
my thoughts too, gordie....there was an article in the Sunday DT the other day on how cats plot to take-out their owners, an overall family feline trait..... just found it: http://www.pressreader.com/uk/the-sunday-telegraph/20151101/281513635022035/TextView
So which one are you going to get rid of?

definetly my mother!! I could never get rid of my cat !!
Good decision, a cat is loving and loves you for who you are - my late mother would do stuff like move my ornaments, and other stuff that can undermine your self confidence.
Cats are extremely good judges of character.

Have you seriously got nothing more serious to worry about gordie?
Lucky you!
