Hello all,

Has anyone had GDM? What are your experiences? Did you have to be induced? Was baby larger than normal? My friend is 32 weeks and was diagnosed a week ago, she is so worried, but i told her not to google it due to so many conflicting stories.

I would rather she had a personal view on this, and Sqads view please. thanks x

There's nothing wrong with googling medical matters as long as you include 'NHS' as a search term. Then you get accurate information!

Advise your friend to work through all of the links here:

(The 'Treatment' one is particularly relevant).
I knew someone who had this everytime! Yes more than 2 or more kids!
Hi! phleb,
Not my scene...midwifery...too many women involved, but I will drag up long suppressed facts from my "younger days.

Absolutely ....and i have thumbed through this and was astonished to read that roughly 1 in 5 pregnant women develop GD.....really?
Since my days it appears that more pregnant women are getting fatter, OR is it that more fat women are getting pregnant? ;-)

If there is anything in the link that you need explaining , then get back to us , here on AB.
My friend had it (she's not fat!) she was induced two weeks early because of the size of the baby. He was 10lb something. She went on to have another 4 children and didn't get it with them.
