Can anyone advise me whether it is possible to record a Sky programme on my own VHS video without having to fork out more to buy the Sky + recorder? I have already ordered the 'basic' Sky box (which I get free) and a couple of packages from them. Is it also possible to record a Sky channel whilst watching a terrestial channel. Thanks.

I have the basic Sky box.To record using timer recorder, set channel to AV1 or AV2 when recording Sky.( I have to set to AV1 but my neighbour sets to AV2 - I know not why! ) Then proceed as normal.Don't forget to leave your Sky box on.You can watch terrestial tv at the same time as recording. If an old fool like me can do it, so can you ! I believe you can record using Videoplus, but I have yet to work out how.

AV1 and AV2 usually relate to the 2 scart sockets in the back of your TV.

One will be AV1, the other AV2.

I use a standard video recorder and to make sure, I only record the Sky channel, I select channel 8 on the video and tune this to Sky. Then set the programme you wish to record, using the TV Guide on the Sky controller, and find the channel to record, click select, click the red button and your Sky box will automatically change to the selected channel at the correct time.
