I work with a 20 year old girl who is hoping to having a European (Mediterranean) beach holiday with her boyfriend this year, but has no idea where to go. They want somewhere with a beach and little bit of life so that in the evening they can go for a meal and/or have a drink in a bar. But they don't want anywhere too lively, the sort of place where there are groups of drunken youths. Anyone any ideas?
It depends on the budget - there is a huge choice, just avoid the Brits in the Balearics and Benidorm.
Lido di Jessolo
Celeb-spotting in Nice and Cannes
French chic in Banyuls sur Mer
Corsica
Sardinia
etc etc
We went to Benelmedina in Costa del Sol last year. It was a lovely resort with a really nice marina and it did have a small square of what looked like a few noisy bars if you decided to be adventurous but the rest were very quiet and most on the prominade.
Many nice places on Mallorca. Doesn't sound as if they would like Magaluf as it can get a bit on the lively side there but most other places there would probably be fine.
I know it is outside Europe, but why not try Morocco ? No need to change your watches, short flight, plenty of both Mediterranean and Atlantic beaches, superb souks/bazaars, lots to see, no need to spend a lot, and the bonus is that you can use the duty-free shops at the airport, which you can't do if you're going to a EU country
