Lucky you, lots of things to do such as a ride on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, its about 18 miles long with lovely scenery. If the weather is nice Robin Hood's Bay or Whitby. Castle Howard for rainy days and Eden Camp Museum if you are interested in WW2. Thirsk if you are interested in James Herriot. Hope you have a lovely time yobanfa.
Good answer moonshadow, I bet you live in the area.
Fish and Chip lunch in either Whitby or Filey.
York...Bettys for tea and cakes and shopping.
East of Malton is Scarborough, a typical English seaside town. They have a castle.

And in the other direction is York and there are many things to do there - much history - the cathedral (minster), the historic walls, the medieval lanes.

Just North of Malton is Pickering, a small town where the North Yorks Moors Railway starts. Must be one of the most attractive train routes in England.
Every area in the UK now has a number of "tourist" websites on the interent.

Searching in Google for phrases like "Malton tourist" or "visting Malton" or "visting Yorkshire" will give you plenty of web sites.

No squad I Live in Wales, my nephew used to live in Malton and Mr M and I used to look after his home whilst he worked abroad. Nothing quite like Betty's fat rascals and a fish supper at Whitby, you have obviously visited the area.
moonshadow...lived and worked in that area for 4yrs.......married a Yorkshire Pudding.....sorry I meant a Yorkshire girl.

thank you all for your answers, i too am a yorkshire pudding by birth, was born in hull but moved away and this is my first trip back in 30 odd years, so im soooo looking forward to it, will post where i went when i get back.
Try Eden Camp war museum just outside Malton - it's in an old POW camp, the original huts are still there & each one houses a different exhibit relating to WW2 - www.edencamp.co.uk
Also have a run out to Dalby Forest national Park or Flamingoland if you like zoos & thrill rides.
If you take the North York Moors railway to Goathland - look at the station, it was used as Hogsmead (Hogwarts) Station in the first 2 Harry Potter movies, then mooch around Goathland itself and spot Aidensfield sights ("Heartbeat" which is filmed there).
