USA and Nokia 5800

I have travelled to the USA and thought that my mobile, Nokia 5800, would automatically select the network when I arrived. When it did not show any network available I tried selecting the network manually but keep getting a message saying no access. I have contacted Vodafone by e-mail and tried everything they advised me but I still keep getting a no access sign. Any suggestions would be greatfully appreciated. Thanks.

Has 'International Roaming' been enabled on your phone? I think the phone operator (Vodafone) has to do this for you. O2 had to do mine years ago and its just been left enabled ever since( which I think is the norm).
