how far is Knowsley from Liverpool city centre

Two good looking early 40s men (not Gay) love visting the Matthew Street festival every year but this year the credit crunch is hitting us hard. I have found a cheap coach deal from london to liverpool city centre and a really good hotel in Knowsley. Is Knowsley far from the city centre and is there good transport links ( bank holiday). Using a Taxi would defeat the odject and we are just going to music festival on the Monday.

the site is advertised as being a 25mn taxi ride from lime street station. go to http://www.merseytravel.gov.uk/ and use the merseyside journey planner to find public transport journey opportunities. or take the festival shuttle bus from St Georges Plateau, every 10mn, fare £3 each way.

Depends where abouts in knowsley, but 25 mins by cars sounds about right. Train may be a lot easier to use to get into the city centre though with Liverpool1 now open (the new shopping centre), the Mathew street festival and the World Firefighter games all being on at the same time, i would imagine traffic would be a nightmare (usually Mathew st festival alone clogs the streets). Plus some of the streets get closed off for the festival.

Have you tried looking in Birkenhead or other places on the Wirral? Many of them have excellent train (Merseyrail) links with Liverpool aswell as bus services, and may suit you better. I'd check on a map (or google earth) to see if any suitable hotels are near a station.
