Information on Tamarindo, Costa Rica?

I am going to an all inclusive resort ( Barcelo Playa) near Tamarindo. How will we access currency? Are there trips to Nicaraguar? How safe is it? Anything we should know, any recommedations?

Ooo you lucky person. Tamarindo is a lovely resort with great surf. Should be a bank there as it's quite large for Costa Rica. Should be able to access cash at the resort you're staying at. I've not heard of tips to Nicaragua but it is 9 years since I've been and things may have changed. Depending on when you go there is the opportunity to go south and see giant leatherback turtles lay eggs on the shore. This is a midnight trip and is very, very special. There was a meteor shower the night we went and between turtles we lay on our backs on the sand and watched the show above. Magical
