Has anyone been on holiday to Killarney in Kerry? The scenery looks wonderful.

Yes, loads.

A lot of my family are based there and in/around Co.Cork. The scenery is indeed wonderful.

thanks Octavius-we're hoping to get a house or cottage for a week as near to the lakes as possible, then I can pretend they're mine-I've always wanted a lake! What is the town of Killarney like,do you know? I'm really looking forward to going-it will be my first time flying.

Because of personal/family attachments I love it. But some people find the town itself a bit touristy, and you get the usual late-night revellers trawling the streets and nightclubs – just the local farm boys letting off steam about each others cows usually!

My cousin owns a bar called Tatler Jacks, so of course I would recommend that! There is also a nice bar called Molly Darcy’s which does a very nice Irish Coffee. Some great restaurants also, the Flesk is particularly good, as are so many others.

Try driving round the Dingle peninsula as well, stopping off at various beaches along the way to Dingle (say Hi to Fungi!), and make sure on your way back you go over the Connor Pass. The Ring of Kerry if you have the time. Don’t forget the Gap of Dunloe, Torc Waterfall, Muckross House, and Ross Castle for a boat ride!

Much more if you are in to specific things.

Hi! I'm going to Kerry this year but staying in Kenmare as it's less touristy. Yes, I agree, the scenery is so beautiful

I was in Killarney last week and it seems very nice and very lively with live music everywhere (only one night and it was a Sunday.) I stayed at The Killarney Towers which was very nice and incredibly cheap. I think it was about €65 for a very nice room and breakfast. Select the commercial rate from the website.
