Family holiday in the sun in January

Hi, we are are looking to go abroad somewhere hot and sunny next january with a 7&5 yr old. Haven't been abroad since I was a kid, not sure where to go. We want somewhere fairly lively but not too loud, with stuff for the kids. Has any of you been anywhere you can recommend? I know this is really vague, but any help you can give is greatly appreciated. daffi x

Tenerife is nice and out of the school holidays is reasonably cheap, avoid Los Americanos and the rest is quite quiet.
If you want a bit of privacy, try James villas, works out cheaper than a hotel and more freedom.

if there is sand sea and a swimming pool the kids will love it
deciding where to go will depend on your budget.

We looked into Cyprus, that was the last holiday I went on and Mr daffi has been and liked it, but the weather is unlikely to be warm enough in January.
Sand, sea and swimming pool is what we want. Have a budget of about £1500 for 14 nights x

We have been to Egypt (Sharm) in January a couple of times. The weather was brilliant and the kids loved it.

If you're looking for January weather warm enough to laze by the pool/on the beach don't come to Cyprus! Our average daily temperatures in January are around 16-17 on the coast and 5-6 up here in the mountains. The Canaries or Madeira - both in the Gulf Steam - might suit, otherwise look a bit furtther south, maybe Gambia or the Red Sea resorts, or the Seychelles.......
