Tunisia

We are going to Tunisia soon for a holiday . I know we can't take Tunisian dinar into or out of the country. Does anyone know the best method of getting currency? Should we take travellers cheques, and if so, in sterling or US dollars, or should we use our debit card to take cash from ATMs? I've read that hotels give a better exchange rate than banks - can that be true??
