When me and my wife go out downtown we have to get taxis there and back. It's less than a mile and takes a max. of 10 minutes to the first pub, but as she says "I'm not walking in these shoes!"
I, on the other hand, have been known to walk 5 or 6 miles home after a night out on a cold winter night wearing only a tee-shirt. (And jeans of course) before you all jump in!

Also, back in the 80s, we used to go out with my sisters and their husbands, and one couple insisted on getting taxis between pubs, (less than 5 minutes' walk.)

A transfer from station to hotel of maybe 100yds - don't know how much, the tour company organised it. Mainly for the luggage, I think - though it was tipping it down at the time.

mine was about 50 yards, from the station, before I suddenly remembered my sister was coming to pick me up and saw she was parked by the road, and had to stop and get out. Still cost £3 or so. Nothing very long.
